We may have obsessively covered the cars of Pebble Beach Week out in Monterey, California, but it appears that we - and everyone else in the media - may have missed one.
If a letter sent to a Ferrari owner is to be believed (and we're not convinced it should be), the automaker held a special gathering for a select group of owners to view a 599 Roadster prototype. The letter, which you can view at Luxury4Play.com, thanks the attendees for their "first feedback" on this "upcoming limited edition product." There's no way to verify the authenticity of this letter, but if we're honest, it looks kinda-sorta legit.
Ferrari usually does a pretty good job of keeping these things under wraps, and since we didn't get to see the 599 Roadster during our time in Monterey, we wouldn't be surprised if it shows up at a future auto show (Paris, perhaps?). We'll keep our eyes peeled.

2011 Renault Latitude - Click above for high-res image gallery
Renault does well in Russia, and the market is important enough to the French automaker that it's unveiled its latest car in Moscow. The Renault Latitude is described as a "business class" sedan, which translates to a crisply-styled, generously-sized car carrying luxury and tech features. The Latitude will spread into other markets this fall, and the European version will debut at the Paris Motor Show, carrying powertrains and some altered styling details from the Russian-spec versions that just bowed.
Powering the Latitude are a 2.0-liter, 139-horsepower four-cylinder backed by a CVT, or a 2.5-liter, 177-horse version of Nissan's VQ V6 mated to a six-speed automatic. Drivers are attended to by massaging seats, and niceties like three-zone climate control, sound systems by Arkamys and Bose, and a Carminat TomTom navigation system are some of the equipment details. Chassis bits are borrowed from both Renault and Nissan cars; the front reportedly comes from the Renault Laguna and the rear multi-link setup is from the Nissan side of the family.
Buyers can start lining up to buy the Latitude at the end of September in Morocco and Algeria, and the car will be rolled out in Russa, Ukraine and Africa shortly thereafter. The Latitude is definitely coming to continental Europe, and a decision on whether to offer the Latitude in the United Kingdom will be forthcoming. Want to know more? The press release is posted after the jump.

Ford always comes strong at the Woodward Dream Cruise, and this year the corner of 9 Mile and Woodward is a packed as ever with a slew of Mustangs in tow.

Smoke on the Woodward
What does a PT Cruiser need to do to attract our attention at the Woodward Dream Cruise? It could overheat and die, needing to be pushed to the side of the road. Kinda like this one here.

Close-ups: 2010 Woodward - Click above for high-res image gallery
The Woodward Dream Cruise is all about classic, unique and nostalgic vehicles spanning over 100 years of automotive history, but sometimes even more can be seen by zooming in and studying the details of these fabulous machines.
We scoured Woodward Ave. with a magnifying lens looking for those special angles that make you appreciate good automotive design. These are the close-ups of the 2010 Woodward Dream Cruise. Check 'em out in the high-res image gallery below and let us know your favorites.

The odd, ugly and weird of Woodward 2010 - Click above for the high-res image gallery
Nestled between the classic and muscle cars at the Woodward Dream Cruise are vehicles that turn heads for very different reasons. At some point in the history of the Dream Cruise, the fleet of quirky cruisers became as big a spectacle as a '32 Ford Coupe or a '57 Chevy. To be honest, we wouldn't have it any other way because these often ludicrous machines bring a smile to our faces during a hard day's work of covering the cruise.
This year, we spotted such fine rides as a Volkswagen Beetle that hinges to open like a Hungry Hungry Hippo (above), an Econoline van with a stripper pole and a late-model Monte Carlo with Lambo doors. That's just three among the dozens of misfits we found trolling the streets of Woodward yesterday. Browse the gallery below for some high-res perspective on how to raise eyebrows while cruising the Woodward strip.

Muscle Cars: 2010 Woodward - Click above for high-res image galleries
Every year, the muscle car is the most well-represented vehicle type at the Woodward Dream Cruise. And with good reason: These burly V8-powered steeds reinforce Detroit's legend as the Motor City.
As we discussed in our post on Woodward's classic cars, we've kinda sorta arbitrarily split American automotive history into two parts, using 1964 as the dividing line. Everything post-1964 is a muscle car... at least for our purposes. With that in mind, take a look at a bunch of classic Mustangs, Chevelles, Corvettes and, of course, Pontiac GTOs in our high-res image gallery below.

Classics: 2010 Woodward - Click above for high-res image gallery
There's no doubt that classic cars make up the bulk of what keeps us coming to Detroit to cover the Woodward Dream Cruise year after year. But what makes a car a classic?
That question is as debatable as ever, but for the purposes of our coverage this weekend, we're calling a classic anything built before 1964 or so. That's around the first year you could buy a Pontiac GTO - what many consider to be the first true muscle car - and the end of what we're calling our classic car era.
Yes, it's a bit arbitrary to divide all these vintage vehicles into two groups, but there's just too many for one gallery! So here's the first, our gallery of pre-1964 (or so) classics. Post-1964 (or so) muscle cars will follow, so get through the gallery below and we'll bring the muscle a little later.

Custom license plates of the Woodward Dream Cruise - Click above for high-res image gallery
We aren't the biggest fans of most vanity plates. At the Woodward Dream Cruise, however, there are plenty of witty, snappy and mildly inappropriate plates to be seen, and we can't help but laugh (or at least chuckle quietly) at some of these creative tags. After all, it's one thing to cruise Woodward Avenue in a PT Cruiser with wood paneling and flame decals, but having a vanity plate that reads "HOTWOOD" really completes the package.
We found all sorts of interesting letter combinations at this year's cruise, which you can see for yourselves in the high-res gallery below.

Imports: 2010 Woodward - Click above for high-res image gallery
Not everything that trawls the potholes of Woodward Ave. during the Dream Cruise was made in America. A lot of the cars aren't from around here; they're imports. We're not just talking about Japanese cars, either. The imports at Woodward often hail from Europe, and are just as classic as anything that Detroit screwed together.
Truth be told, we didn't capture as many foreign cars as we would have liked between dodging raindrops and trying fill all of our other galleries. But we went ahead and built a high-res gallery with the shots we got because, well, we got some really good ones of classic Porsche 911s, and we figured the Porschephiles among you could use some new desktop wallpaper. Enjoy!

Smoke on the Woodward - Click above for high-res image gallery
What do you do at the Woodward Dream Cruise when it's raining cats and dogs? Well, we were keeping dry up on the second floor of an office building looking through the windows at the few cruisers left when we finally found something worth posting on. It's a PT Cruiser. Not post-worthy in and of itself, but this plum beauty was smoking hot. Literally.
Just as we were debating whether or not to go back out in the wet for more pics, this PT Cruiser rolled to a stop in front of us - and our livestream - with its grill doing its best Larry King impression. Just as we were about to run down to help the downed PT, we saw a few guys, who coincidentally were dressed in clothes that matched the PT perfectly, jump out of the back seat to push the now defunct Chrysler off of Woodward Ave.
So instead we did the next best thing and took a bunch of pictures because we're bored. It was the least we could do. We're just disappointed this PT wasn't one of the 30 Chrysler Cruisers on Woodward with faux flame stickers on the sides.

2010 Woodward: Chrysler display - Click above for high-res image gallery
First thing we did after arriving at the 2010 Woodward Dream Cruise was head out to the various automaker displays on Woodward Avenue. And, as you can see, that includes Chrysler. Included amongst the normal and expected 300s, Wranglers and Ram Trucks, we spotted a couple gems that are well worth your consideration.
Take, for instance, this Ram-bodied monster truck. Naturally, it's crushing an import from the '80s... We also got a kick out of the little slot car racing track set up to keep the kiddies (and kiddies at heart) happy in spite of the rain. Speaking of which, sorry about all the drops on the cars... sadly, unavoidable.
We went ahead and assembled the best shots from Chrysler's officially confiscated parking lot. See the lot of 'em in our high-res image gallery below, and of course, stay tuned for lots more coverage from the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Check out our livestream for a live view of Woodward as the classics drive by.

Ford always comes strong at the Woodward Dream Cruise, and this year the corner of 9 Mile and Woodward is a packed as ever. And of the dozens and dozens of vehicles on display, most every model was of the Mustang variety. Ford brought along plenty of GTs and GT500s, along with a few spanking new examples of the 2012 Boss Mustang Then of course there are the many legacy Mustangs of decades past, supplied by Ford, its employees and, we're presuming, a few Mustang fan clubs.
But while the Mustang is the heart of The Blue Oval's Woodward lineup, Ford brought along some of its newer models to show off, as well. On hand were the 2011 Edge Flex Titanium and the recently unveiled 2011 Explorer. Small cars were also on display, with a stickered-up Fiesta and a pair of totally hot lime green samples of the Focus RS. Jump into the gallery below to enjoy the view of Ford Motor Company at the 2010 Woodward Dream Cruise.

Check it out! We've got the 2010 Woodward Dream Cruise on Livestream after the jump.
We're shooting a portion of Woodward Ave. right before a stop light, so the cars will slow down and give you a great view every minute or so. The Livestream will be going all day, so feel free to keep the window open and watch the Dream Cruise traffic as we're out taking pictures.
Fair warning: There's an obnoxious commercial that comes on right before the Ustream player starts playing. Mute is advised.Continue reading 2010 Woodward Dream Cruise: Livestream!

1.5 million people. 40,000 cars. 16 miles of famous Woodward Ave. It's that time of year again to cover our favorite event near the city of Detroit (we love the Detroit Auto Show, but c'mon, it happens in the dead of winter): the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Like years prior, we'll be on-hand for the official cruise day tomorrow, though Detroiters have had their classic cars out on Woodward Ave. all week before the thousands of classic car gawkers show up on Saturday and slow things down to idle on the street.
In a nutshell, you can expect Autoblog to make you feel like you're there even if you choose not to make the trek to D-town.
We'll be covering the 2010 Woodward Dream Cruise on three fronts:

Jaguar XJ Sentinel - Click above for high-res image gallery
Budding rap stars, dictators, special agents and anyone else looking for the ultimate in over-the-road safety now have an elegant new option when it comes time to scoop up that next heavily armored ride. Jaguar has announced that it will show off its XJ Sentinel in both left- and right-hand drive at the 2010 Moscow International Motor Show.
As with other machines of its ilk, the XJ Sentinel features sufficient armor plating that it's earned B7 levels of ballistics protection (read: can handle moderately-sized explosions and gunfire). Plus, because it's based on the long-wheelbase XJ, it won't attract more than the usual attention from anyone looking out for dignitaries to harass.
The same naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 and six-speed automatic that powers the standard XJ is included in the package, and its 385 horsepower can propel the 7,275-pound heavyweight to 62 miles per hour in under 10 seconds. Not exactly breathtakingly fast, but that's the price you pay for protection.
Fortunately, the suspension has been beefed up to deal with the excess weight with continually variable dampers. So too have the brakes, bringing this 120-mile-per-hour speeding locomotive to a halt. Pricing is not publicly available at the moment, but you can always contact your own personal security consultant to hammer out the details. Full press release after the break.
